Longevity Tip: The Essentials of Homemade Dog Food
Tip Summary: Transitioning to homemade dog food offers personalized nutrition control, potentially enhancing your dog's health and extending their lifespan.
Hey Dog Longevity friends! We’ve had a lot of new members join our community lately, and one of the main questions that I’ve been getting is about either high quality food, or homemade food - so let’s get into it. This approach allows for control over ingredients, ensuring your dog consumes whole, unprocessed foods similar to a healthier human diet. However, preparing homemade dog food requires knowledge and commitment to ensure it's both complete and balanced. Let’s look at some of the key considerations, along with the longevity implications:
Key Considerations:
Balanced Nutrition: A proper homemade diet should include:
At least 10% protein from sources like chicken, turkey, fish, or lean beef.
Up to 50% carbohydrates from rice, pasta, or potatoes, which also provide fiber.
About 2.5-4.5% fiber from vegetables like peas, green beans, and carrots.
At least 5.5% fat from sources such as vegetable oil.
Essential vitamins and minerals, which may require supplements to ensure the diet is complete.
Preparation and Storage: Use a food scale for accurate measurements and follow a vet-approved recipe. Cook ingredients as required, blend them well to prevent selective eating, and store food in the fridge or freezer in portioned containers. Homemade dog food can generally stay fresh for three to four days in the refrigerator or up to two months in the freezer.
Monitor Your Dog's Health: Keep a close eye on your dog's weight, body condition, and overall health. Any significant changes, including unintended weight loss or gain, vomiting, or diarrhea, should be reported to your veterinarian.
Cost and Time Consideration: Ensure you have the time and budget to prepare homemade meals regularly. While typically more economical than commercial fresh or raw diets, homemade dog food can be more expensive than kibble.
Longevity Implications: Embracing homemade dog food can significantly enhance your dog's diet quality, potentially improving their longevity and well-being. A well-planned homemade diet is key to ensuring your dog benefits from all necessary nutrients.

Naturally Royal Update
Background: Naturally Royal is that longevity company that we started in the Dog Longevity community. Its mission is to help our dogs live longer. We launched our first longevity support supplement in January, and its main ingredient has been shown to extend lifespan by 29% in mice. Here are our updates for the week!
Update #1 - Price Change
I spoke with two people lately - a veterinarian and an advisor (and customer). We talked about the mission - to help as many dog parents give their dogs the longest life possible.
The conclusion after both meetings was that more dog parents deserve Longevity & Vitality chews, but the biggest barrier has been price. It needs to be more accessible, so we’re reducing the price by about 20%, from $59 to $49.
Update #2 - 50% Off First Month, & 20% After
The results from the Longevity & Vitality chews that we have seen over the last 45 days have been astonishing (from warts disappearing to improved mobility, and improvement in degenerative diseases). Many of the positive changes occurred within the first 30 days. Each tin is a 2 month supply, and I’m so confident that you’ll see a positive impact with the first tin, that the first month of a new subscription gets you 50% off the first purchase.
With this discount, the first purchase will be $25 per tin, and then every subsequent order will be 20% off, or $39.
